2016

Kickstarter Campaign Launch & Success

Ably launches its Kickstarter campaign for Ably®, aiming to fund shirts and hoodies treated with Filium technology.

The project hits its funding goal very quickly and far exceeds expectations, drawing 4,900 backers and raising approximately $540,000 to bring the product to market.

The Kickstarter campaign establishes Ably’s initial product line — primarily tees and a signature hoodie — and serves as the company’s go-to-market launch.

2017

Expansion and Retail Presence

Following the Kickstarter’s success, Ably began selling Filium-enhanced apparel directly to retail customers.

After launching with basic tees and a signature hoodie, Ably steadily broadened its offerings to include a wider range of tops, bottoms, sweats, casual wear, outerwear, and accessories, driven by strong customer demand for the technology across more garment types.

As the brand scaled, Ably applied insights from its earliest production runs to refine both materials and processes—resulting in significant improvements to fabric performance, durability, and comfort, while also reducing environmental impact. These learnings enabled Ably to deliver a far more advanced product that better serves customers and aligns with the company’s commitment to sustainability.
